Maharashtra School Fee Cut: The Maharashtra government on Wednesday announced a 15 percent reduction in school fees for the current academic year. Earlier in May, in a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, parents of students from private schools had urged the CM to waive off 15 percent fees from 2019 to 2021. Earlier, the Rajasthan government was also ordered by the Supreme Court to cut fees.
Announcing the fee cut in Maharashtra, School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad told reporters, “The Maharashtra cabinet today decided to reduce the school fees by 15 percent for this academic year. The detailed order of this decision will be issued soon.”
Education Minister Varsha further said that this decision has been taken on the lines of the Rajasthan government. Many parents are demanding some relief from the state government regarding a reduction in school fees in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Let us tell you that schools are closed in Maharashtra amid the fear of epidemic and possible third wave. Meanwhile, the schools affiliated with various education boards, including the Maharashtra Board, have informed the state government that they will follow the rules for the reduction of fees.
