According to the UDISE+ report, the number of boys out of school in the secondary level as well as primary classes (1 to 5) in 2019-20 was higher than the girls

According to the report of the Combined District Education Information System Plus (UDISE+) in 2019-20, the dropout rate at the secondary level as well as primary classes (1 to 5) was higher for boys than girls while in upper primary classes. (6-8) had more girls than boys drop out of school.

The overall drop out rate at secondary level in the country is more than 17 per cent, while it is 1.8 and 1.5 per cent in upper primary classes (6 to 8) and primary level, respectively, the report said.

The drop out rate in primary classes for boys was 1.7 percent while that of girls was 1.2 percent. Similarly, the dropout rate for girls in secondary classes was 16.3 percent while that of boys was 18.3 percent.
