New Delhi: For the first time in history, the University of Cambridge has started a pre-degree foundation course. It’s completely free and fully funded. The course will be started in October 2022.
This is one year course:
The UK’s world-renowned educational institution Cambridge University has started this program to increase diversity on the campus. The university on Monday announced that the new Cambridge Foundation course is free and fully funded and aims to provide opportunities to new applicants.
It will be a one-year full-time residential course and will start with 52 students in October 2022.
Rigorous process to be followed for admission:
There will be a strict process to be followed for admission in this. Alex Price, director of the ‘Foundation Year Course’ at Cambridge, said it was a big day for the university.
He said that this is the first time Cambridge has offered a ‘Pre-Degree Foundation’ course and focuses on talented applicants who do not consider applying to study here.
He said that the number of applications received shows that it is competitive and there is an eagerness for the same.
There have been 267 applications for this program. That means about five applications for one seat. At the same time, usually, six applications come for every seat in the university. It is an innovative program.
